went ahead and gave my ape a bit of an upgrade..picked up some Karakoram clips
got them on last night and i must say...DAMMMN! much better rigidity with the board!
i was noticing a lot when turning that my board would actually separate between my feet (toe side rise above heel side board and vice versa)...and after clipping the board together, i found it hard to get the board to shift like it used to!
i'm excited to get up and give it a field test!

I just wanted to show you my skunk split as well. triple K clips and added hardware, water jet cut. Love this board, but it is now my rock board and no edge.
They are stainless steel tabs i use to overlap about 1/4" on each side to stop the "sheer" i hate so much. More of an experiment to see if it works than anything. It definetly works really well, but adds weight. I even added a few to the center of my new Jones solution. I use epoxy and a small stainless wood screw that does not go all the way through the board to mount them. Its my own thing i know, but i believe that something like this is needed to make splits as good as a solid, performance wise.
good job on the skunk DIY. these boards rock!
Cheers NYCO

thanks man...and likewise on the board
your quiver is full of nice rides!
what areas do you normally ride in CO?
i been hoping to get up and explore more in the indian peaks this year but the winter is slow to catch up...also explore more of the BP and jones pass/butler gulch area
this is my one and only split, but my other boards are lib tech trs and k2 gyrator...then a salomon prospect as my rock board...burton supermodel, t6 and jussi are all retired now
I tour a lot in the Gore range and the Sawatch just because there out my front door. Send me a PM sometime if you get a chance to come up to the Vail area, always looking for touring partners with cool attitudes! I have some good hook ups.
TY

Man i was bummed to miss the SSF! Have to keep the wife happy sometimes. Love to show some DIY boards i have built. there is a guy in Glenwood sprngs that will do water jet cuts. He only charged me $40 per board, but not sure what he would charge others. Real nice guy, but doesnt know a thing about splits, i doubt he would do it unless you showed up at his shop. PM me if anyone is interested in his #.
CTG, come up in the next few weeks. the big lines in the Gore are about to go off! up to 100% average snow pack and the corn season is going to be rad! still blower snow up high from all we have had in the last few weeks and unsafe, but soon it will be a go!
I am itching to try the Phantom HS bindings w TLT5s for next year. as long as i can bust out of the pipe like this, ill be happy photo (9) by travis young 424, on Flickr I just had to share this shot!
