I've been reading this forum a pretty long time without posting anything, so here we go.
I wasn't fully satisfied with voile light-rails and then i got inspired by different kind of DIY projects here and started sketching something for myself.
I'm going to use highpack ( + arc that mounts highpack) from light-rails and straps from some bindings from ride.
This is the first prototype that i'm hopefully going to machine soon. Or at least before snow starts to drop down
lets see some chips fly, how are you cutting the grove/lip in the baseplate for the puck? Maybe move the mounts for the heel loop and toe strap to the side of the baseplate. would reduce the size of material to start with and that would be removed. Those tabs dont look too strong. The geometry around the toe ramp looks hard to machine by hand, not bad if you CNC.
Yes, there is nothing new compared to sparks, but that's not a suprise when it is going to be machined from aluminum and it goes to voile interface But when you design and built your own, theres no one else to blame for if it doesn't feel right
That arc is not connected to sides because its voiles arc and it is ment to be mounted on top of the baseplates surface. Otherwise that arc is mounted too low.
It would be best for material size (material removal) to make separate components for mounting the front straps and back arc.
But those front straps are going to be a problem, if I want to use my voile crampons. In order to add material under the plate for mounting the front straps, that material blocks the space for voile crampons and slider pin.
So, it's gona need some re-designing...
That grove for the puck is easily machined with T-slot milling tool.
Target is to use 5-axis CNC, for minimum amount of attachments (only 2 needed). Curved surfaces are no problem.
