Hey Everyone,

I am having a hard time trying to decide which of my boards to split.

163 Never Summer t5 well loved in need of a base job. camber
159 Lib TRS only 2 seasons on it, really nice base. banana

something else?

I am leaning towards the NS since the Lib is really nice still. anyone have a suggestion?

I am about 6' and weight about 190ish without gear.

thanks

If the NS is about done, I'd consider splitting the Lib. You're going to put some energy into building it and you'll want a board that will perform and last.

Then again...if this is your first DIY split, you'll learn a lot building the NS and can do another once you've destroyed it completely :twocents:

:doobie:

The NS has some life left in it for sure, just need to grind the base a bit. the board is still nice and stiff.

Split the NS
at 190lbs you need a bigger board in the BC than you lib 158

Also, consider how long your touring trips will be. I am friends with pro split-boarder Kyle Miller. He has tested a LOT of splits and he has told me that the C2 tech on Libs is not great for lengthly tours while in ski mode. Something to consider. I keep hearing that camber and flat boards perform well while climbing due to increased surface area in contact with the snow. each board IMO will have a different attitude while skinning. I do agree that a larger board would be better given your weight. I am 6'3 195 lbs. My first split is going to be a DIY 172 Skunk Ape. Not really because it is an exact preferred size but because it is what I have. I personally would not split a board smaller than a 165 or 164.

Just my two cents. Hope maybe I helped in your decision making process. Cheers.

You said the TRS was a banana? Is it, or is it c2? I'm a huge lib fan, currently riding a TRS solid and a Jamie Lynn split, both c2. I agree with the above comment on the length of your TRS being a little short, I'm around 150lbs and 5'10" and ride a 57.

Curious about the above comment regarding the C2's performance on long tours? Any details on that? I find them to perform well while touring, much better than my last traditional cambered split (Ride DH 57). :twocents:
