A while back, I saw a post with pics of some nice additions of tail clips on skins but I can't seem to find it. If any of you have done this can you post it or link it up?

I've been resisting tail clips but on my new 171 mtn gun I'm having some issues with the tails loosening up. I had one real bad day of skins not sticking at all and it seems that a tail clip would at least make duct tape repairs more effective or unnecessary.

It seems that having something to grab on to would make removing skins more efficient and I won't risk grabbing the glue with snotty gloves...

No, there were some other pics I remember seeing with a real clean wide rubber strap riveted...

I think it was part of a topic or post that had digressed a little. I thought there was at least 3 or 4 pictures. I don't think it was real obvious by the subject of the post.

Try searching for "rivet." A couple of other ideas came up there as well.

i just recently did a similar mod to my 165 with standard long tractor skins. i got some of the old green black diamond tip stretchers at a local shop here in jackson. The were only $10....sweet i thought, $20 cheaper than the bca kit. they fit perfect with my 165 just barely stretched, and the end of the skin just barely folded over from standard length and riveted. you could prob stretch this to a 166 also, but it seems way way too stretched on my roomates 168 burton. the tip stretchers i got were the xxl and say they are made to fit 70 mm skis..must def be a few seasons old. if you can get your hands on a pair of these from a ski shop somewhere, you'll be psyched. i don't have any pics at the moment, but i may be able to get some if folks are interested. i def would need a place to host them though.

I think I've got it figured out. Now I just need to make an extension or find some clips that are long enough for my original skins. I'm using the new long Voile 130 mm skins on a 171. They stop at least 5 inches from the tail.

Pics please when you get the mod done.

maybe use some strong vinyl or something similar. from a trucks awning (uiihh... I hope it's the right english word for that I want to describe).



used it years ago for the too short "DIY"-skins of my old duotone split. works great!
