All you Tahomies should check it out and participate. From the CSAC website:
" Alpenglow Sports has challenged the entire Tahoe backcountry community to a cumulative goal of 15 million vertical feet of human-powered uphill travel. While 15 million vertical feet is a lofty cumulative goal, the ultimate payoff is a $3000 donation to the Sierra Avalanche Center, given by Alpenglow Sports. To sweeten the deal, Alpenglow Sports will also pay participants for their progress with gifts! Go to http://www.tahoevertical.com for complete information and registration. "

great cause and...Aplenglow is carrying splits stuff this year too (even if its only spark binders and the k2 setup). the employees know their product as well as anyone. the reno/tahoe area is psyched to have so many small, local shops that carry the stuff we need!

The real challenge in the BC vertical challenge is to challenge mother nature to snow...This challenge came to the snow gods as a challenge and jinxed us

I participated last year. Even with the bad snow year I found that it helped me get motivated to go out on the split. I just kept telling myself I was doing it for the SAC. It wound up being one of my better years even though the snow didn't cooperate much.

I found this was kinda cool for tracking total vertical over the course of a season. A bit motivational, too, when you see some people with a one day total that ended up being almost half of what I did in an entire season . It's for a good cause, and Alpenglow is a cool shop, spread the word this year (I assume they are doing it again). Shooting for 100k this season.
