well kyle tried to make it a little easier on us by breaking 90% of the trail... he's still hard to keep up with though!

is scoring good snow a given out there? seems like you PNW riders always have pow.
this season has had its ups and downs, but as with most touring, there's usually good snow somewhere especially if one is willing to venture into the alpine. we had the good fortune to get absolutely perfect conditions for this trip--it snowed on wednesday, then some more on thursday as we were hiking in. just enough to cover all the ice with snow without building big slabs, and then we had 2 perfect bluebird days to cover ground and enjoy it. the wind, clouds, and snow came back just as we were leaving on sunday.
kyle, great job on the TR! i think i'm just going to give you the memory card from my camera from now on.... i haven't even finished doing all my compulsive little edits to those photos and you've already finished the report! but most of all, thanks for the invitation. i feel pretty lucky to have enjoyed such an awesome adventure thanks to your years of planning and scheming!

Sweet Kyle, thanks so much for sharing. Great views of the N side of Rainier in winter. Looks like you scored a crucial weather window as well-awesome!

Thank you for all the kind comments. Trips like this are the reason that I got into splitboarding. I am working on a far more personalized version of this trip right now. Those slopes are filled with memories of my youth, adolescent and adult years.
