Hey all, I am thinking about doing a trip in Chile (near Portillo). I was thinking about bringing my split but have no idea where to even start looking for information on the country in general.
Anybody ever been down there during June or have some links to pass on?

I've been down in August. Termas de Chillan might be your best bet. Portillo, Valle Nevado, La Parva, etc are in the middle of some pretty knarly mountains where I would think you need some serious skills to get around.
Termas Chillan was perfect for skinning and riding. It's wide open at elevation because it's mostly a chain of volcanoes and you have endless expanses of untracked pow in all directions. I spent ten days hiking off piste and riding fresh pow every line.

We hiked up Villarica and snowboarded down with our resort boards out of Pucon but there was people skinning up as well. We were there in September. I have photos but I don't have any web hosting place to put them up.

You are going to have a great time. My biggest piece of advice would be to bring a board bag with wheels. There were four of us that traveled for a month and the two of us with wheels had a much easier time getting around town and on the bus system. The sun is also intense that far south so high spf is primo. Tear it up down there!
