This has been my second year splitboarding in Flagstaff, AZ. In '05 I picked up a Burton 165 with the last run of the Burton interface. After about 45 days on the board I've had to do all sorts of tweaks to keep the interface working.... no wonder they stopped making that interface! Next year the old interface board will become my rock board and I will get something newer with the voile setup... Any how on to my report from Feb. 25th 2007 - The Kachina Peaks of Northern AZ

I have been eyeing a 45degree couloir on the Kachina Peaks for 4 or 5 years - dreaming of the day I would drop it.
Yesterday 4 of us did.
After evaluating any avalanche danger we decided the snow was fairly stable. Siebert (AT) dropped in first.
Here I am dropping in on my burton split. I do LOVE the ride of this board. the interface system just has too many problems.... Notice Sazi dog's tail sticking up just over my head - that's his outrigger.
Gnome (board and snowshoe) starting his drop.
Gnome finishing his drop.
Here is Ron (AT) on a second run just around the corner from where we dropped into Humphrey's Cirque. Notice all those deep-snow dunes as Ron rips it on his fat skis.
I am hoping to drop a few more bold lines with the gang before the season is done. We may have to settle for some corn snow now that the temps are warming up. but I do love that corn!
