After 4+ years with Voile, it was time for a new chapter in my life. So I joined the ranks of the unemployed (still got my eve coffe shop gig) and made the decision to live the life of a splitboard bum for awhile. And yes, Voile rules and always treated me great- Thanks for everything Wally, Dave and Mark
On my first day in the bc as a splitbum, I met up with some friends for a midweek bluebird pow day. Trailhead was at 6,200', and our first ascent to the top of Gobblers would be 4K.
Ol' man winter was in usual form as he showed me his oversized middle finger-
Lap #1+2
Jive captured a cool sequence with his amazing camera skills-
After 3 different lines of 2,500', we admired our tracks knowing that we still had another 1,500' descent back to the trailhead. (Photo Jivestick)
I was pretty confident that the heli would be PISSED
Just wanted to say thanks to this doood
for the 9K day (my personal biggest), and I was psyched knowing I had the stamina for 10K+, just not enough daylight yet. Lookout spring

DAMN! Looks like a killer day. Biggest days I've had this season have been the two days out with you. I need to get out more.
Sorry to hear you've left Voile (had a hunch it was coming, even though you didn't mention it) but stoked to hear you get to slay all this snow whenever you want for the time being. Yes, I'm jealous.
Give a shout if you want to tour again, my shins are all healed and ready to go.

P.S. Check your PM's, Will left some pins for your Sparks and I need to get them to you.

9000 and damnnnn! You are a monster. I know who is going to be waiting for the rest of us in two weeks. Yet more beautiful and artistic photos from the Wizard!
Looks fun, but what's up with all the butt-wiggler tracks? Farming turns is lame, especially if your poaching heli-terrain. Tare that shit up!
Respect goes a long way instead of shitting in your neighborhood. Maybe some of the crew were going back the next day and I was mindful of attempting to conserve snow for my skier friends. Sometimes there's an opportunity to open it up, sometimes not...
Getting yelled at for making big turns can be commonplace here in the 'Snatch. Besides, it's the high speed Swallowtail turns that I dig the most, you don't feel the G's when you straightline (or perhaps boardslide) a slope. But then again, maybe I'm still wrong, and I should just yoyo a 50 ft kicker
Next time I'm going to post a photo of 8'ing Jives turns, he likes the big radius turn on his fatties like I do on the board. Thanks for the idea
And Wysplit, I have every intention of going to Scrubfest if you still want me there

Great TR Karma...shocked on your employment news but I wish you great luck on the next chapter of life.
Im kinda in the same boat...ready to change something.
Anyway I hope you can still make it over here to the sierra. Im gonna try to set you up for a BIG line
Nice TR and congrats on the career move! I went there a few times here in UT and in the Keys and it did my soul a lot of good.

As far as the so called "lame" butt wigglin - What's wrong with making turns and playing nice with others? Turning feels good and IMO is (sometimes) "taring" it up.
By the way Karma - I always have Monday off, like getting up early, and my schedule is super flexible (hint hint).
edit to clarify that I DO NOT think butt winglin is lame.
I kind of lean toward the lame side too on the butt wiggles. Then again it doesn't bother me to cross another track while in the bc. I suppose you guys have to share since you're the LA of the ski world. Mighty nice of you.
hmm...edited to add...I don't think straight lining it is the coolest either.

Didn't mean to get personal on the butt-wiggling subject, it just seems funny because that doesn't happen in the Sierra, or any place I've been for that matter. Our snow turns to crap before it ever gets tracked out, and we're spread out more for sure. I figured with all the things I've heard about helis inthe Wasatch dropping skiers right above people hiking up, the skinners (is that a word?) wouldn't be so inclined to share. Nothing wrong with turns, I just like mine super-sized. Way to get after it for 10k, too!
I make turns dependent on equipment used, snow conditions and the group I'm with. Had no thoughts of tracking it out to irritate the heli or because I thought it was cool. Can "wiggle my butt" with the best of um or open um up.
I'd mind my own buisness and stick to the super sized.
Thanks for the tr, karma.
