I like to clip the board together with the skins on for packing. So a rubber lined recess gives the skin hooks clearance.

Some may hate this idea for holding the skins at the tail but it worked flawlessly last year. It's stainless screws and finishing washers to clamp the skins. No worries just a little slow turning screws. No noticable drag from the screw heads while riding.

Being able to put the board together with skins would make for some good skootch shredding! Do you need to pull out the screw driver every time you swap out the skins? The board looks rad, is it homemade?

What's scootch shredding? I carry a screw driver bit with surveyors tape tied to it so it's easy to find and grab. It's home made and still heavier than a Voile mojo rx. No ptex or edges. I'm getting better with each board and having lots of fun trying.

I like the notch idea for putting the board together with skins on. Have wanted to do that a few times, but couldn't. May to experiment with that.

instead of the screws you could probably put on a tail clip (BD makes some you could add on) and file a lil notch in the tails for it to sit. where do you get materials to build this? what is the base material made of?

I ended up drilling a hole in each tail so I can use the G3 tail clip and keep it centered.

Funny you should say surfy. I just moved from 17 years surfing on Maui. Chub because fish was taken. It's made to ride like a fish surfboard short and wide for quick turns. Yes I made it. Fiberglass hawaii has lots of epoxys and carbon cloth. And Action sports technology inc. is one stop shopping for edges, inserts, epoxy, ptex, cores etc. Board crafters has vids to vacuum lam a board that is pretty simple without building a massive press. Never saw scooch leg I'll check it out..

I always put my skins on at home so it's nice to clip the board for the hike to the snow.

Huck, you are 95% of the way there! Lets see your next board with pTex and edges. It's really not much more work than you had to do in buffing out and flattening a base with a gel coat on it. Good looking board! I moved back from Oahu years ago to go get lost in the mts. Again. I love the elbow room and the always- there speed in bc riding, but still miss the simplicity of just jumping in.

I don't care if I destroy a board after a couple years. My taste changes that fast and friends get hand me downs.

Those are some pretty decks dude! Love the look of that last shorty fish. Also, patent the crap out of that recess for the skin hooks, I can see that making it out to production splits in a few years...
