This is kind of a no-duh (in retrospect) but. . .

On a noboard, when descending mountains with low tide at the bottom and epic conditions up top, don't get too stoked on the way down. Eventually your slashes become scree-drags and you're left wondering, "What happened?"
Only upon reflection (whilst lowering oneself with whippet poles) does one realize, "Well shoot. I guess noboards need more than 6" of blower pow to remain afloat." Especially on steeps with aggressive turns.

Lesson learned: On a noboard, don't commit oneself to big lines unless you know it's noboard-capable all the way down. Better to jib up top and hike down than gash up a perfectly good board in the bottom 25% of a would-be epic line. A normal board could have handled the low-tide line (but wouldn't have been as much fun up top!).

that's great man, gotta live to learn. it is all about conditions on noboards and powsurfs. this is why powskates are so versatile. from Icy hardpack conditons to deep blower they handle it all. but once you figure out your zone on the noboard you won't be making that same mistake again.

By 'powskates' you mean the skate decks with like 'trucks' and a ski?



as opposed to a noboard/ pow surf?

Sorry to hear about your board hans. Us guys that snow surf / noboard using our splits have the option to put our bindings back on in a matter of minutes for when things get too hairy or the pow runs out. Definitely true about picking your runs when you have no straps. Could make for a bad day if you get in a sketchy spot.

yea, noboard/powsurfs are one level, a bideck powskate is two levels which allows you to carve firm conditions if you need to. The lower ski has a wide nose and narrow tail and lengths around 145-160cm



Advantages to both set ups and really they ride very similar. once the bindings come off the techniques are pretty much the same.
