Best snow of the season in the southern Madison Range! Stuck to jibbing in the trees. Thankfully this spot has about 2500' of them. Stomped out a big beacon practice area below the Burn on Ellis today, right next to the skin track. Use it before it snows again! Also- a video for anyone who might be interested:
Really enjoyed your "Snowy Doublet" photo from your recent beartooths outing. I have been working on some high contrast/high structure b&w photo filters for post processing. I tested these filters on your image . . hope that's okay. Here are the results:
high contrast/high structure
high contrast/high structure without noise reduction
Your blog provides some great stoke . . . keep up the good work!

Spent some time in the Flanders drainage last week during the warm weather.. found a couple gulleys with preserved NE facing stashes that hadnt warmed yet.. lots of potential up there!
Also, found a fun zone off Hwy 191 this winter, im sure you all notice "the green bridge" in gallatin canyon, well Deer Creek on the madison side has some long gulleys and absolutely prime burnt out trees. Havent ventured that way since the avy danger has been dictating a lot of where not to go, but i imagine the coverage being alright now, and *fingers crossed* hopefully more stable snow day to day.

Saturday sucked balls up on Blackmore. Glad to hear Flanders was better for you, nordicbordn. The burn on Deer Creek sounds cool - may have to check that out.
Had a free voucher for Moonlight that I've been saving for a few months and put it to good use today. Well, well, well worth the drive 'cause it was boot to knee-deep all day long. Soooooo many faceshots today! Yeehaw!

Went XC skiing up Brackett today. Didn't the Bridgers get like a million inches of snow in the last couple weeks? Couldn't honestly tell because the ground around 6500 ft is looking bare!
Yeah, and I think they got rained on today. I have the Bell Lake Yurt reserved 2 weekends from now. We were worried about stability and where to find lower angled terrain if needed. Now I wonder if I should pack my swimsuit . The Snotel data for the Tobaccos looks awefully similar to the Bridgers. Has anyone been out that way lately?

Has anyone been riding around here recently? I've just been rock climbing and being a lameass student with no shred time recently. Spied this beauty on the way down to climb some dolomite in the Bighorns: Anyone skied back in there? I know it's not MT, but it's pretty close .

Skied in Cooke over the weekend. All-time conditions out there. Probably all went to shit today though with the high temps. Stoke (though sadly no other splitboarder joined me): (edited to ask if anyone knows how to change the size of an image when you're linking to it.... the two I posted are tremendously too large)

Oops... bumped because I figured it out! Cooke spray! Glad we finally got to suss this place out a bit. I'd only ever been over there for bigger mountaineering-type objectives in the spring.(high-res photos are on the blog)
